Located in a quiet, leafy area next to Sefton Park, The Mountford Hotel occupies a polished red-brick building that presents a blend of traditional charm and practical comfort. Guests can expect stylish rooms furnished with elegant and distinctive pieces, alongside cosy dining options that include two intimate bars and a terrace. The hotel is known for its welcoming atmosphere and has been recognized as LGBTQ+ friendly, contributing to an inclusive environment.

Guest reviews highlight friendly and attentive staff as a strong point, although some mention the building’s age affecting room features, such as drafty windows and limited bathroom heating. Rooms are generally clean and comfortable, though updates may be needed to modernize aspects of the interior. Breakfast offerings receive mixed feedback, often described as basic with room for more variety. The hotel requires a £50 deposit on arrival, reflecting the care taken to preserve the character of its older furnishings.

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The building is quite old, which is noticeable in the interior and overall condition, but the heating works well, and the room was warm and comfortable. The room itself was clean, and the bathroom seemed relatively new, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the windows were a bit drafty, making the bathroom chilly, which caused some minor discomfort. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which added to the positive experience. One downside is the £50 deposit — they block this amount on your card upon check-in, but the refund process is quite slow. In our case, using a Revolut card, the money was returned only after a month, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the room lacked a hairdryer and bar soap, but that wasn’t a big issue for us. Overall, everything was good — for the price, it’s a pretty decent stay.

Really enjoyed my stay here! The location is great—close to the city centre, with shops, restaurants, and bars nearby, so it’s easy to enjoy a nice meal or drink without going far. There’s plenty of parking both on-site and on the nearby streets, which was super convenient. The hotel room was very clean, quiet, and decent—simple but comfortable, and perfect for a good night’s rest. The whole area felt peaceful and safe, which made the stay even more relaxing. The hotel itself is well-maintained and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The only small downside for me was the breakfast—I was expecting a bit more variety, but it was still fine. Overall, a great place to stay, and I’d definitely come back and recommend it to others looking for a quiet, well-located hotel.

I called Mountford to organise my wedding party's accommodation. Our party stayed for a week. The attention to detail was great as they requested Guests lists and any difficulties Guests might have to allocate the party in a comfortable room for them (some of my Guests had walking difficulties, some came with kids or have claustrophobia). We really enjoyed the evenings at the lounge as a family. The Staff is super friendly and the lovely receptionist were helping us during all our stay. Affordable hotel, well connected with the City centre. Will definitely be back!

Great hotel situated just a short drive into the town centre. Comfy room, although it is in need of an update. Staff give you 5 star service, very helpful and friendly. The only negative was the breakfast, not enough fresh options and only eggs and toast for hot options. Would recommend for a short stay.

Lovely polite staff on arrival. The room was cold on arrival . Very draughty through the windows . Politely asked staff to put the heating on. Breakfast Continental very basic suggestion could do with a cooked breakfast in the morning. Asked for extra bedding refused.

During a short trip to Liverpool with my son, we came across this hotel by chance. At first, I was surprised by the £50 deposit policy mentioned in the hotel terms, as it's not something I've encountered at many other hotels. However, after staying here, I fully understand why they have this policy in place. The hotel is housed in a very old building, much of which is wooden, and it has been remarkably well preserved. The furniture in the rooms is not the standard hotel type, but rather elegant and valuable pieces. There is a beautiful rug on the floor, and the curtains, windows, and other fittings all reflect a sense of charm and quality. Given the nature of the room and furnishings, it makes perfect sense for the hotel to request a deposit. The location is also quite ideal — it's only about 10 minutes by bus from the city centre, yet situated in a peaceful and quiet neighbourhood. There are two large parks nearby, which were truly enjoyable to walk through. I was very pleased with my stay here, and if I ever visit Liverpool again, I will definitely choose this hotel once more.

Overall, we had a good stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and warm, and the heating worked well, which was a big plus. Breakfast had all the essentials, so it was enough to start the day. A few downsides – the hotel is far from the city center, but there is a bus stop nearby, making transportation easier. Also, a £50 deposit is required at check-in, which might be inconvenient for some. There was no hairdryer in the room, so keep that in mind. Overall, a decent option for the price, as long as the location isn’t an issue.

Have stayed here a few times now. Comfortable and clean rooms. Decent buffet breakfast. Professional staff. Bus stop for city centre pretty much outside the door. Only negatives were no toiletries, so bring your own, plus needing to check if the 50 quid deposit has been refunded Otherwise all good.
